CHAPTER 14

Bea Munoz poured ranch dressing on her smoked sea bass. She scooped up a little of the fish with her fork and put it in her mouth. It had been almost a week since they gathered for their reunion.

“How does it taste?” Laarni asked as she forked some of her stringbean salad. Laarni and Bea were co-partners in Laarnia, a bar and restaurant located in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. At first, the people were shocked with the partnership, yet the two made Laarnia work. It was now one of the hippest restaurants in the area.

“Good. Could be one of our best sellers.” Bea replied. Their conversation was cut short by a cellphone ringing. Bea rummages through her bag and looks at the caller ID of her phone- an unknown number.

“Hello?” Bea asked.

“Bea!” the voice on the other end replied.

“Van?” Beas was not sure. Laughter emerged from the other end of the phone. Laarni dropped her fork and covered her mouth in surprise.

“Hey.” Van said. “I was wondering if we could, you know, go out?”

Bea seemed excited, she fanned herself with her hand. She sought a second to gather herself.

“Um, sure.” She replied.

“Great! Pick you up at eight.” Van said as he put his phone down. The two ladies giggled and shrieked like high school girls.
