CHAPTER 28

“Hey! You’re back!” Bea said as she saw Cris coming towards her. Cris wore a dazed expression on her face. “Are you okay?”

Cris managed to nod, still shocked from what she saw.

“We’re back!” Van said as he and Hansen came down, a bottle of wine in his hand.

“What took you so long?” Bea asked.

“The usual guy talk.” Van said as he eyed Sen. He just smiled.

“I think Cris is not feeling well.” Bea said as she pointed to Cris who was seated at the picnic table. Sen rushed to Cris side.

“Are you okay?” He asked. Cris looked at him, here eyes cold and unforgiving. She wanted to slap him right there but decided to spare Bea the gory details.

“Yeah. I just felt dizzy.” Cris reasoned out.

“Perhaps you’re just hungry. Maybe we should eat.” Van suggested.

“Yeah, may be you should eat.” Sen agreed.

The drive home was the part Cris dreaded the most. It would be the time that she would be with her husband, and no one else. Thank God Louie and the yaya are the, she tought.. The trip down the ridge was so silent, it was thick enough to cut with a knife.

“You’re quiet.” Sen said as their car entered the South Luzon Expressway.

“I’m just tired.” Cris said coldly, not wanting to face her husband.

Hansen just shrugged and continued driving.

“Do you want to stop by ATC?”

“I just want to go home.” Cris replied with finality.
